At Donck Studio, we create spaces animated by life, not houses like museums. The imprint of time and moments spent in the homes we build, as well as the memories collected there, bring this unique warmth to all our projects.
For this coastal house, we offered nature the space to literally melt into the interior.
The walls become windows to the outside world for an exotic feeling that lasts through the seasons.
Balance matters when it comes to design. The interiors’ light of the indoor swimming pool dialogues with the wood on the walls and the concrete on the ground.
The dining room where family gathers feels like an oasis. The textiles of the house as well as the choice of furniture bring a harmonious feeling to the place.
The house is an ode to the professional activity of the owners, who specialize in the production of doors and windows.
A home is a place where memories are collected.
Our studio completely renovated this family house in Ghent for Karin and Xavier Donck, an interior designer and architect, who both share a passion for hospitality and cultural heritage.
For the living room, we opted for a strong contrast between rustic wood, famous design pieces and contemporary art.
For the bathroom and dressing room, we dared to mix materials, tiles, carpet, wood and limestone paint, using different shades of green, which brings a unique charm to this part of the house.
The white Walls of the office space, allow the introduction of colours through artworks, books, as well as beautiful collectibles.
An example of our desire to create a livable space where the historical DNA of this 17th century house is respected while each room reflects the personality of the owners, keeping most of the interior unchanged but adapting all the techniques to the latest.
The perfect combination of architecture and interior design serving the happy life of a family of four girls located in De Haan.
Warm colours, organic shapes and materials, wood, terrazzo, cement tiles, and beautiful contrasts of colors and fabric patterns throughout the house.

The renovation of this traditional farmhouse near the Belgian coast was done with the uttermost respect for its original volumes and spaces. Adding lot's of light - a signature intervention of DONCK.STUDIO - turned this magnificent building into the perfect place to relax from the busy life its owners, a couple of doctors, life each and every day.
Located in the outskirts of Ghent, we renovated and enlarged this existing structure, adding big windows to bring in the light. The concept for this family home was to create brighter living spaces and a minimal interior with colored highlights through the different rooms.
The outside of the house is designed to blend in with nature, using subdued colors and materials like dark blue roof tiles and a grayish lime wash for the walls. The windows are left bare, fading to grey in the outdoor elements. Moving in, the floors across the house are a mix of smoked oak for the ground floor and clear coated for the first floor.
The kitchen is minimalist and structured, we used Moroccan tiles to reflect the bright outdoor light and bring some warmer textures. The master bathroom is completely covered in waxed concrete, also used as a finishing for the furniture and the bath to get a uniform looking space. This creates the perfect backdrop for the objects that make up the owners daily life. With its blue theme, the kids bathroom is the complete opposite. Using a variety of materials from Moroccan tiles to thick cement textures gives the space an extra oomph.

This is Arthur Donck’s first house in Brussels before he decided to expand his family. House Imperial has some interesting history as it was built by a famous "motorcycle side car maker". The living quarters were installed on the highest floors of the house adding light and great views to the most used living rooms. The sleeping quarters moved to the first and second floor in the cooler part of the house. Today a new family is making their nest in this small patch of heaven in the centre of Brussels.
In this project the DONCKRICHARDARCHITECTS team was asked to come up with a solution to centralise all of it's clients office spaces that were scattered around Flanders. After several site visits an old warehouse presented itself as the perfect place to welcome all divisions of the company. DONCKRICHARDARCHITECTS proposed to keep the concrete structure as a frame and redesigned the building around it.
In this project DONCKRICHARDARCHITECTS got challenged by a young family looking for the perfect place to start a family life of their own. This renovation and the choices of furniture, lighting and art resulted in a energetic city cocoon which feels like a warm nest for it's owners.
